What is Lindy hop?

The Lindy hop is an American dance which was born in Harlem, New York City in 1928 and has evolved since then with the jazz music of that time. It was very popular during the Swing era of the late 1930s and early 1940s. Lindy was a fusion of many dances that preceded it or were popular in its time.

What is Jive?
In Ballroom dancing, Jive is a dance style in 4/4 time that originated in the United States from African-Americans in the early 1930's. It was originally presented to the public as 'Jive' in 1934 by Cab Calloway. It is a lively and uninhibited variation of the Jitterbug, a form of Swing dance.

For Improvers Lindyhop, they will be teaching 8 count rhythm Lindyhop for you to build up your skills and to enable you to social dance with confidence. For the improvers class ideally you should already know the steps to a swing-out, turn and circle
