Every week, from 8 pm, we hold social dances after our Sunday afternoon dance classes. These are attended by about thirty to forty of our regular dance students plus about ten to fifteen guests from other dance schools. We play a selection of contemporary dance music records.
But once a month, usually the second Sunday of the month, we hire a seven piece strict tempo band with vocalist Alistair Sutherland, who play for around one and a half hours from about 8.45pm. Before they come on, we play records
We have a large dance floor, many opening windows, good natural ventilation, a good sound system and a stage. We encourage our students not stick with one partner, so there is no need for you to bring a partner. But bear in mind that, as in most dance halls, there are usually about 15% more women than men.
We do several social dance activities such as a Paul Jones, quickstep bus stop and snowball waltz. Sometimes we do one sequence dance with five minutes of instruction
The Colliers Wood Community Centre is less than five minutes walk from Colliers Wood tube station. Turn right out of the station, cross the road, and we are about 250 yards on the left hand side of the High Street.Or there is a large free car park behind the Centre
