Our Leap Year Extra Night this year falls on a SATURDAY - so it's a great excuse for a Bonus MILONGA (Tango Party)!
It's at the gorgeous and atmospheric Chapel at the YMCA - the Island's premier Dance Venue - and features Mandy's famous mix of Traditional (Golden Age) and contemporary/alternative Tango music - a variety of styles to dance to but EVERYTHING fanstastic for Tango! :)
Island and Mainland Dancers from all styles/clubs are welcome and beginners can grab a table to just watch and enjoy the hospitality, or join in if they're brave enough (forget the choreographed, theatrical style of Tango you've seen on 'Strictly' or been presented with elsewhere - learning and dancing *real* Argentine Tango with experienced teachers that specialise in teaching it as a *social* dance style is NOT as difficult as you might think!).
Worried that you don't get enough dances when you go to Tango events? Instead of a lesson/workshop, there'll be a special presentation at the beginning with professional International Tango Dancers/Teachers explaining 'Milonga Etiquette' and presenting tips and suggestions on how to enjoy more dances at both formal events and informal/alternative Milongas... So come along early and don't miss out!
We'll also be putting the new kitchen to good use by serving you some hot food and a welcome glass of Malbec to put you in the mood for more dancing - but if you want to bring your own drinks or extra dishes to the party too, please do!
The Chapel at Winchester House venue
The Island's Premier Dance Venue - a former Chapel that is now part of the YMCA site at Shanklin - Character building with a huge suspended floor and a lovely, calming atmosphere. Expect a friendly and supportive class/event with a warm welcome for beginners from experienced Dancers and expert tuition for BOTH roles from a full time Professional Teaching couple...
Refreshments: Tea, Coffee and Squash provided.
If coming from Shanklin town centre towards Sandown, watch out for the YMCA sign before the bridge over the railway and turn right just before the YMCA and then immediately left into the Car Park. Walk towards the main building and then follow the sign to ‘Reception’ to arrive at the Chapel at the Sandown end of the site.
