Lindy Hop is a partner dance that is said to have been invented in The Savoy Ballroom, Harlem, New York, in the 1920's and 1930's, and was danced to swing music. It is an African - American jazz dance that evolved from several earlier dances, most notably the Charleston. It was the American GI soldiers who bought Lindy Hop to Britain in the early 1940's. Lindy is traditionally danced to swing music. We teach the ‘Savoy’ style of Lindy made famous by the King of Lindy Hop, Frankie Manning. This is the authentic original and best style.

Beginners Level - This is for complete novices, we will teach the basics step by step building on the fundamentals each week. With over 25 years of teaching experience you are in safe hands and will be dancing with smoothness and style by the end of the term.

Intermediate Level - This class is for dancers who already have some experience in dancing Lindy Hop. An understanding of 6 and 8 count rhythms, triple steps and Lindy Hop fundamentals such as Lindy Turns, Lindy Circles and Swing Outs are essential for participation in this class. We will build on core moves and add some tricks, footwork variations and Charleston steps to elevate your dancing to another level.

Wear smooth soled flat shoes and comfy clothes. No partner required as we will rotate the class, you can stay with your partner if you prefer.
