This month - Brown Boots with caller Erin Mansfield. Sutton Masque dance at the interval.
Brown Boots is Will Allen on melodeon and Martin Clarke on fiddle. Their musical background is rooted in playing music for dancing, as well as gaining inspiration from playing with their many talented musical friends at festivals and pub sessions across the country. They're good - really good.
Erin is a talented, professional and energetic young musician and ceilidh caller. She has been immersed in many genres of music and dance since childhood, though her true love lies with traditional and contemporary folk music, song and dance.
Together this young trio will amaze you with their virtuosity and verve for life and music!
It's a barn dance - or is it a ceilidh? And what's that? A ceilidh (say kayley) is your chance to dance English traditional country dances with others. The caller describes all the moves (very simple) and the dancers walk through the whole dance once - then the band starts - and a great time is had by all ! Dance as vigorously or as sedately as you wish - and don't worry if you get it wrong. Most dances are for couples, but singles and groups are welcome. There's a break about 9.15 when we organise a dance display - generally Morris or similar - to entertain you, and a Raffle . See our website at www.unicornceilidhs.org.uk for all details, and to buy tickets via TicketSource at the same price - then you’re guaranteed entry.
