Jive

In existence since the early 1930s, Jive styles have evolved and adapted with Modern Jive finding immense popularity over the last two decades.

The Jive category includes 1940s Jive, Leroc, Modern Jive, Rock n Roll and Smooth Modern Jive.

Salsa and Latin American

Emerging from a range of dance styles from Latin America, North America and Cuba, Salsa has become very popular in recent years.

The Salsa and Latin American category includes Bachata, Brazilian Zouk, Cha Cha (Club), Forro, Mambo, Merengue and Salsa.

Argentine Tango

Argentine Tango is a social dance with distinctive footwork “decorations”. It is expressive, creative and passionate, highlighting the mood and emotion of the music.

The Argentine Tango category includes Argentine Tango, Salon Tango, Tango Nuevo, Fantasia, Milonga, Tango Vals and Tango Fusion.

Ballroom and Latin

Formerly only for the upper classes, Ballroom dancing is now widely popular with all. Each style has its own unique characteristic.

Swing

With the Charleston originating from the 1920s/30s, and Lindy Hop (Jitterbug) being introduced to the UK during WWII, the styles disappeared in the 1950s only to be revived again in the late 1980s.

The Swing category includes Balboa, Boogie Woogie, Charleston, Collegiate Shag, East Coast Swing, Jazz Steps, Laminu, Lindy Hop and West Coast Swing.

Blues

Although there are many different interpretations of Blues, this style can be summarised as creative, stylish, smooth and slow.
