Tonight is the C Jam Xmas Party 2025
Beginners/improvers class - 7pm-8pm
For those new to swing dancing the evening starts with weekly drop-in classes aimed to make those first steps as straightforward and enjoyable as possible. Covering all the basic steps and rhythms of Lindy hop - different material is taught each week and the classes are designed so that you can join any time and you can progress without needing to be there every week. No previous experience required. Fun, social and informative!
Practice time/social
In between the classes there is time to practise - and to grab a drink from the bar!
Shim Sham class - 8.15pm-9pm
Learn the world-famous Shim Sham jazz dance routine! Considered essential knowledge for swing dancers around the world, this routine is great fun, and the perfect introduction to solo jazz steps. Open to all levels.
Social dancing with live music - 9pm-late
Swing out to live music from the Intercontinentals - featuring Louise Messenger & Duncan Hemstock - plus the very best recorded music from the 1930s, 40s & 50s.
The Bedford venue
Period ballroom located on the first floor of multi award winning live music/comedy/dance venue & pub. Smooth wooden dance floor (arguably the best floor in London!), air conditioned, fully licensed bar.
By tube - Northern Line to Balham, 2 minutes walk. Turn right out of the station and walk up Balham Station Road. The Bedford is easily visible ahead of you.
By train - Balham (10 minutes to Waterloo or Victoria via Clapham Junction), 2 minutes walk as for tube.
By bus - Buses 315 (Bedford Hill), 355, 249 or 155
By car - Just off the South Circular (A205), Balham is easily accessible by car from all directions. There is plenty of parking in local streets, free after 6.30pm.
